According to the Insurance Information Institute, 1 in 6 motorists (or 16.6%) in California are not insured. That makes our state 10th in the nation with Mississippi (29.4%), Michigan (25.5%) and Tennessee (23.7%) as the top states. What does this mean to you? It points out how important it is to have Uninsured Motorist coverage that protects you and your passengers from injury expenses including medical bills, pain & suffering and lost time from work. Also, with this coverage, if you identify the uninsured vehicle by at least their license plate, it can help you get back your Collision deductible (if your policy has this coverage) or up to $3,500 for your car. In the end, with the number of drivers that are not properly insured, it's one of those coverages that everyone should be driving with.
