Here are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) regarding roadside assistance offered by most car insurance companies.

How can it help me?

The idea of roadside service is to send you a tow truck to assist you with the following situations:

  • You lock your keys inside your car

  • Your battery needs a jump start to turn on your car

  • You need help changing a flat tire

  • Your car does not function and it needs a tow to your house or an auto repair shop

  • You run out of gas

Does it automatically come with my car insurance?

It does not…you have to add it to your policy.  If you are not sure if you have it, call your agent or company to confirm.  If you currently don’t have it, you can usually add it effective renewal.

How much does it cost to add it to my policy?

It can vary by company…usually it's usually from $1 to $8 more per month for each vehicle.

Can I use it with any car?

If you do have roadside coverage, it can only be used for the cars that are in your insurance policy and have that coverage.  Some services like AAA do allow you to use it for any car as long as a cardholders with the vehicle,

Where and when can I use it?

You can use it anytime and anywhere in the United States.

If I need to use my roadside service, who do I call?
